James
C. Butler, M.D., recently named one
of the top orthopedic surgeons by New Orleans
Magazine, is a native of New Orleans and
graduated from Tulane University with a degree
in Chemical Engineering in 1974. He earned
his medical degree from Tulane University
School of Medicine in 1978 and interned at
Charity Hospital. He performed his residency
at the Tulane University School of Medicine
and completed a fellowship in spine surgery
at Tulane in 1983. He currently serves as
an associate professor at Tulane in the Department
of Orthopedic Surgery and has published
numerous scholarly works and is known for
his presentations on spinal surgeries.
Dr. Butler is a member of the National Medical
Association, American Medical Association,
Louisiana State Medical Society, Tulane Caldwell
Society, Orleans Parish Medical Society, Clinical
Orthopedic Society, Greater New Orleans Orthopedic
Society, Louisiana Orthopedic Association,

Dabdoub, D.P.M., is a Slidell native
who graduated from Louisiana State University
with a Bachelor of Science. He earned his
Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the
Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine and
completed his surgical residency at the University
of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics in 1981.
He was named a Diplomate of the American
Board of Podiatric Surgeons in 1984 and is
a Fellow of the American College of Foot
Surgeons. Dr. Dabodoub also is a member of
the American Podiatric Medical Association
and the Louisiana Podiatric Association.
He is skilled in more complex procedures
including ruptured tendons, children with
flat feet, and arthritic joints, as well as Diabetes
patients in danger of losing limbs.

Simon
Finger, M.D., graduated from the
University of California, San Diego with
a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1991.
He earned his medical degree from the Tulane
University School of Medicine in 1995 and
completed his orthopedic surgery residency
at Stanford University Medical center in
2000. Additionally, he holds a fellowship
in Sports Medicine from the Orthopedic Specialty
Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. A talented
orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Finger is certified
by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery
and has published numerous medical papers,
book chapters, and journal articles on topics
ranging from reconstructive knee surgery
to joint replacements.

Brian
Lee Fong, M.D., graduated from
the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Biology in 1984. He received
a graduate studies degree in physiology from
the University of Hawaii in 1986 and earned
his medical degree from the University of
Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine
in 1989. He earned an internship in General
Surgery at the University of Hawaii Integrated
Orthopedic Residency Program in 1994 and
completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery
at the University of Hawaii Integrated Surgical
Residency Program in 1990. He did a fellowship in
Sports Medicine/Orthopedic Surgery at Tulane
University Medical School.
In addition to
private practice, Dr. Fong currently serves
as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopedics for
Tulane University School of Medicine and
is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic
Surgery.
Dr. Fong is a member of the American
Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
In his free
time, Dr. Fong volunteers as the team physician
for local Northshore high schools and offers
free Athletic Injury Clinics at Southern
Surgical Hospital on Saturday mornings.

A specialist in orthopedic surgery, James Gosey, Jr., M.D. graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree
in 1972 from Duke University. He earned his medical
degree from Tulane University School of Medicine
in 1976 and performed an internship and residency
in Orthopedic Surgery at the U.S. Public Health
Service until 1981.
He is board certified by the
American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Gosey
is a member of the St. Tammany Parish Medical
Society, Louisiana State Medical Society, American
Medical Association, Southern Medical Association,
and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
He does arthroscopic surgery, spine surgery, and total
joint surgery.

Originally
from Argentina, Gustavo
Gutnisky, M.D. earned
his Bachelor’s degree at Liceo Militar
General Paz in Cordoba, Argentina in 1965.
He went on to earn his medical degree from
the National University of Cordoba, Argentina
in 1972. He then served as a surgical resident
at the air force hospital in Cordoba until
1974. He interned at the Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital
in Detroit and performed his neurological surgery
residency at the Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital
in Portland, Oregon, where he became Chief Resident.
In 1978 he became the neurosurgical resident
under Peter Bent at Brigham-Children’s
Hospital at Harvard Medical School in Boston.
In
addition to his stellar academic career, Dr.
Gutnisky was named a Diplomate by the American
Board of Neurosurgical Surgery in 1983. He
serves as an associate clinical professor
for Neurological Surgery of Medicine at the
LSU School of Medicine.
He is certified by the
American Board of Neurological Surgery and
also is certified FLEX and ECFMG. His is a
member of the Southern Medical Society, Congress
of Neurological Surgery, St. Tammany Parish
Medical Society, American Association of Neurological
Surgeons, and a past member of the Chicago,
Illinois Medical Society.

Louis
Hebert, M.D., is a partner with Slidell
Ear, Nose and Throat Associates. He earned
his undergraduate degree from Nicholls State
University and received his medical degree
from the Louisiana State University School
of Medicine in New Orleans. He performed
a residency in General Surgery and in Otolaryngology
at Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
Dr.
Hebert has been board certified by the American
Board of Otolaryngology since 1990, and he
was a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngologic
Allergy. He is a member of American

in orthopedic surgery, Mark
Hontas, M.D. graduated from the University
of Florida in 1974 and received his medical
degree from Tulane University School of Medicine
in 1979. He interned at Charity Hospital until
1980 and then began his residency in Orthopedic
Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine.
He also served as a resident at the Atlanta
Sports Medicine Clinic, Shriners Crippled Children’s
Hospital in Shreveport, Hughston Orthopedic
Clinic in Columbus, Georgia, and the Rancho
LS Amigos Hospital in Downy, California.
Dr. Hontas
was part of the Sports Medicine Fellowship
program at the Tulane University School of
Medicine’s Department of Orthopedics,
and currently serves as an assistant professor
in the Department of Orthopedics at the same

team physician for the Hornets and the Saints,
Deryk Jones, M.D. graduated
from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts
in 1986 and then graduated from the Stanford
University School of Medicine in 1991. He performed
his internship in General Surgery at Brigham
and Women’s Hospital
in Boston, Massachusetts until 1992. He performed his
Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Harvard Medical
School’s Orthopedic Surgery Residency
Program in Boston, Massachusetts until 1996. Dr. Jones
was a Sports Medicine Fellow in Orthopedic
surgery at the University Health Center of
Pittsburgh, Sports Medicine until 1998.
Dr.
Jones is the section head for Sports Medicine
and Cartilage Restoration in the Department
of Orthopedic Surgery at the Ochsner Clinic
Foundation. He was certified by the American
Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 2000 and sits
on the Pre-Participation Examination Task Force
and Council of Delegates for the American Orthopedic
Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Jones is a
member of the American Academy of Orthopedic
Surgeons, American Orthopedic Society for
Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of
North America, American Medical Association,
National Medical Association, Greater New Orleans

Lavin, M.D., F.A.C.S., graduated cum
laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Miami University
in Ohio. He received his medical degree
from Medical College of Ohio and completed
his General Surgery residency at Ochsner
Hospital in New Orleans in 1995. He
is a board certified surgeon and has been
a pioneer in developing and promoting the
field of laparoscopic surgery. He performs
major laparoscopic procedures worldwide. Dr.
Lavin is the founder of the Surgical Specialists
of Louisiana and Southern Bariatric Associates. As
one of the first 4 U.S. proctors for Inamed
Health, he teaches and credentials other
surgeons in the placement of the Laparoscopic
Adjustable Gastric Banding device for the
treatment of morbid obesity. He
is also a national proctor for the laparoscopic
gastric bypass.

Robert
Owens, M.D. graduated from Louisiana State University
in New Orleans and earned his medical degree
from the Louisiana State University School of
Medicine in 1975. He performed his internship
at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. In 1976 he
served as a resident in General Surgery at Carraway
Methodist Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. And, then
as an Otolaryngology resident at Louisiana State
University School of Medicine until 1980.

Scott
K. Sullivan, M.D., F.A.C.S., a graduate
of Tulane University and Louisiana State
University School of Medicine, is recognized
for his skill as a reconstructive plastic
surgeon. Dr. Sullivan performed his internship,
residency and his residency in Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery at Louisiana State
University Health Science Center in New Orleans.
Dr.
Sullivan is board certified in both General
Surgery and Plastic Surgery and is a member
of the Louisiana Society of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College
of Surgeons. During the course of his career
has written numerous papers, given lectures,
and developed the Perforator Flap Breast Reconstruction
for breast cancer survivors.

J. Thomas, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a native
New Orleanian who graduated from Jesuit High
School and summa cum laude from Tulane University. He
received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical
School and completed his General Surgery
residency at Louisiana State University in 1999 where he served
as teaching Chief Resident. Dr. Thomas
practiced in LaFouche Parish for two years
before joining the Surgical Specialists of
Louisiana. He is skilled in advanced
laparoscopy and has been actively involved

Clark
G. Warden, M.D., F.A.C.S., a native
New Orleanian, is a graduate of De La Salle
High School, Tulane University School of
Engineering and Tulane University School
of Medicine. He completed his surgical residency
at The University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill in 1989. He is board certified in General
Surgery and Surgical Critical Care and is
a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Warden joined the hospital from South
Mississippi where he spent 14 years building
the leading general surgery practice in the
region. He was instrumental in the development
of advanced laparoscopic surgery on the Gulf
Coast. While in Mississippi, he developed
one of the nation’s most comprehensive
laparoscopic weight loss surgery programs
which attracted patients from all over the
country. He is active in the American Society
of Bariatric Surgery and has been involved
in the training of bariatric techniques to
other surgeons. He is listed in Best

Steven Watson, M.D. is one of the leading podiatrists
in the greater New Orleans area. He received
his Bachelor of Science from Louisiana Tech
University and his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine
degree from the Illinois College of Podiatric
Medicine in Chicago. He performed a surgical
preceptorship under C.M. Scully, D.P.M. and is a
Fellow of the American College of Foot Surgeons,
